LEMP & CEMP
Landscape and Ecological Management Plans (LEMPs) ensure the long-term success of implemented habitat retention, enhancement, and creation measures.
Construction and Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) ensure that adverse construction effects upon the environment are avoided.

A LEMP will outline the valuable ecological features covered by the plan, and provide detailed prescriptions for their protection during the construction and operational phases, as well as ecological enhancements (including planting schedules) that will be incorporated into the design scheme. Subsequent management and monitoring measures are outlined, as part of an annual work schedule, to ensure that the ecological value of the site is realised.

The LEMP will typically including a variety of elements: descriptions and evaluations of managed features; ecological trends and constraints that could influence management; aims and objectives of the management; appropriate management options and prescriptions for achieving the aims and objectives; an annual work schedule, capable of being rolled forward over a five-year period; details of body and organisation personnel, responsible for implementation of the plan; monitoring, contingencies, and remedial measures; and legal and funding resources, and mechanisms to ensure sustainable long-term management delivery.

Similarly to a LEMP, a CEMP will outline the valuable ecological features covered by the plan, but provide detailed prescriptions for their protection during the construction phase, identifying the responsibilities of various organisations and personnel to comply with relevant legislation, ensuring that the prescriptions detailed in the plan are implemented as proposed.
The CEMP will include the following elements: a plan, showing exclusion zones, and specifications for protective fencing, where relevant; details of management measures to minimise environmental impact from the construction phase; details of an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW), where necessary; and a framework, within which the measures will be implemented throughout the project.
When
LEMPs and CEMPs are not seasonally constrained, and can be produced at any time. However, CEMPs typically need to be synthesised and operational, prior to the commencement of the construction phase. Likewise, LEMPs are most effective when produced prior to the commencement of site work, so that their management principles and stipulations can be effectively integrated into the design scheme, though the majority of the LEMPs implementation will take place post construction phase.
Why Us
